For technical convenience, I probably should have broken this into multiple pages. Artistically, though, I felt it worked better as one piece. Forgive me for the file size.

The term "cake eater" here has caused some confusion. It seems to have multiple modern applications, but in the 1920s it specifically referred to fashion-savvy young men most interested in consorting with women - sort of the flapper's counterpart.  This 1922 song, "Cake-Eating Man" lays it out in some detail.
