It wasn't until I started drawing Mordecai that I really developed an understanding of his character. Sketching often serves a dual purpose for me when it comes to design -- the visuals and the personality take shape this way. Anyway, I don't think I've ever met a tuxedo cat who didn't take himself much too seriously.
