I spent some time in New Orleans recently (just before Hurrican Katrina came along, actually) and I can only imagine that Serafine and her brother are largely the result of that visit. Somehow, it's coarse and bawdy, classy and eccentric all at the same time. I must have had those aspects in mind when I started sketching. The BAR with a shortened stock and sawed off barrel is a Clyde Barrow innovation. Though still a clunky monster of a gun, it seems it was surprisingly maneuverable with such modifications.
